The 10th edition of the Mubadala Community Cup (MCC) presented by Healthpoint has been launched. With over 300 of the UAE’s most promising tennis players registered to compete between 3 – 24 November 2017, across various sporting facilities in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the tournament is set to be the biggest yet.
The MCC, presented by Healthpoint, the leading multi-speciality hospital in Abu Dhabi and part of Mubadala’s network of world-class healthcare providers, is open to those aged eight and over. As the region’s largest amateur tennis tournament, participants have the chance to win exclusive spots at player tennis coaching clinics, hosted by the world-class tennis players competing in this year’s Mubadala World Tennis Championship (MWTC), held in Abu Dhabi between 28 –30 December 2017.
John Lickrish, CEO of FLASH Entertainment, said “To be celebrating another edition of the Mubadala Community Cup with over 300 participants is something we are truly proud of. The competition not only allows the country’s young tennis talent the opportunity to show off their skills, it’s also a great platform where families and friends can come together for an active day out to lap up the excitement both on and off-court.”
Commenting on the Mubadala Community Cup’s 10th edition, Dr Jose Lopez, Chief Executive Officer, Healthpoint, said: “Healthpoint‘s sustained investment in schemes such as the Mubadala Community Cup demonstrates our commitment to providing the nation’s emerging tennis talent with an environment where they can develop their skills, while also encouraging fit and active lifestyles. The engagement seen to date with this year’s competition is a testament to the success of the programme and other Mubadala community outreach initiatives.”
In the tenth year of the Championship, this year’s MWTC stellar line-up features; world No.1 Rafael Nadal, 12-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic (no.7), Dominic Thiem (no. 6), Pablo Carreño Busta (no.11), Stan Wawrinka (no.9) and Milos Raonic (no.12).
Designed to showcase the best amateur players in the region, the MCC presented by Healthpoint promises an exciting tournament with players from various categories, battling it out for the top spot.
The first weekend in November has already witnessed entrants from the ‘14s and Under’ age group competing in Dubai, while in Abu Dhabi the ‘10s and Under’ category showcased further budding tennis talent. The winners, runners up and raffle players from each of these categories secured well deserved, exclusive player coaching clinic spots.
Open to all age groups and abilities, the annual MCC presented by Healthpoint aims to get people involved in tennis across the UAE and promote healthy living.
