PAT CASH GIVES US HIS INSIGHT IN TO THE MWTC LEGACY

One of the main draws for this event is the calibre of player the event manages to attract year after year. It really is an exhibition of the world’s very best. The likes of Roger, Novak, Andy and Rafa have heavily featured in previous years and that speaks volumes for how well this tournament is received amongst the elite guys.

Speaking of Rafa, Nadal has been a near permanent fixture in this tournament over the past decade and is due to make his 9th appearance as defending Champion this year. Clearly, Rafa views this event as an important date in his calendar and for good reason. It’s a perfect outing for some of the top guys to play against one another on a surface similar to the Australian Open.

It’s been a real pleasure and a privilege to be involved in this tournament in years previous, of course the match play amongst the pros is a brilliant spectacle but the event itself is so much more than that. This tournament gives us the opportunity to educate the community and offers kids a once in a lifetime chance to play with the stars. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on the clinics featuring the winners from the Mubadala Community Cup presented by Healthpoint throughout the 3 days.

Like the Community Cup, MWTC provides an incredible platform for the betterment of tennis throughout the UAE. The lucky few that get to be involved in this event during the three days of competition perhaps don’t realise the year round dedication this program provides to tennis in the area. A wide range of local players have been competing in the Mubadala Community Cup for some time now and those who have been successful will join the stars in the tennis clinics during the three days. It’s a great incentive for these players to meet their heroes. The Novak’s and Rafa’s of the tennis world are marveled by these kids and it’s a really special occasion for everyone involved. Who knows maybe we’ll see one of our next superstars breakthrough from this area! Let’s hope the success of this tournament continues to inspire generations to come.

It’s great for the players to be able to pass on some wisdom to the locals. It’s a very professional setting and all of the sessions that I’ve been involved in have been incredibly productive. It’s inspiring to see how much people love their tennis here, those involved in the sessions are a pleasure to interact with and it makes for a really enjoyable three days. It’s brilliant for all the youngsters that get the opportunity to spend some time with the top guys.
